I worry too much. We all do.

In fact, it has gotten to the point where we are believing the lie from hell that it is okay to be worried, as long as it is for a good cause: “It’s okay to worry about a job because I need money to pay the bills”; “It’s okay to worry about what I am going to do after college or how I am going to get there”; “It’s okay to worry what God’s will is because I don’t want to do something He doesn’t want.”

You get the picture.

But where does worrying get us? I know that it gets me nowhere. This is one of the reasons why we as Christians are unhappy, going through so many highs and lows, and questioning if God really loves us. Worry is deadly.

What if God was trying to show us the solution and we have been missing it?

He wants to give our souls rest, meaning our minds, wills, and emotions. Beginning to reveal what it looks like, this is what the Father has been teaching and saying to me (coming from Psalm 37).

“Delight in Me.”

“Run at Me at full force and come at Me with all abandonment and be so hungry for Me that if you were as strong as Me, you would run Me over. I will give you the desires of YOUR heart, not just what I want. What is Mine is yours, so what do you want, Taylor? When I say that everything I have is yours, I mean everything; all you have to do is ask.”

But we must get into a position where we can delight in God just because He is delightful and tasteful, otherwise it will always seem like work and worry. This is where He wants us to go:

“Dwell in My land.”

“I want to take you back to when we first fell in love, but deeper. Deeper into the wild lands of heaven, My heart, deeper into the presence of the I AM, deeper into just existing, realizing the Kingdom inside of you, expanding and growing daily.

“Here’s what I want you to do: I want you to not think about the future. Don’t think about tomorrow, don’t think about college or money, getting a job or who you will be. Think only on Me. Step one: Dwell in My land and feed on My provisions, My feast, My faithfulness; learn to cultivate it in your own life.

“I know what you desire. So now release your hold on them so I can make them happen. I cannot make them happen if they are still in your control.”

The Father longs for us to just exist where He is. I mean, that is His name- The I AM, the One who just is. It is easy to be willing to rest in Him for a short time, but then we have this silly and insanely, idiotic idea that we have to go back to work for the Kingdom. What good are we to spreading the Gospel if we are worrying and always mentally fatigued, never still? Because our Daddy is so good, He gives a picture of what resting in His land is supposed to look like:

“Are you committed to resting in Me? When you go to stay at someone’s house, you take off your coat and shoes. You sit down and enjoy the hospitality. Your hosts do the work. Your only job is to relax, enjoy the rest and company. You cannot enjoy vacation if you’re always looking out the window making sure the weather is good, or if you’re checking your watch every minute. When you enter someone’s home, you automatically forfeit the right to worry or focus on the world outside. The host is responsible for the well-being of the guest. All the wars and all of the evil and darkness are now shut out by the walls of your host’s haven.”

God continues in Psalm 37 saying, “Don’t fret because of evildoers…for they will wither and fade…Do not fear the one who takes advantage of people, or the wicked, scheming man…Rest in Me and wait patiently for Me to work, for I will bring your justice to life, like the sun…so take off your battle gear, enjoy Me and rest.”

Sometimes I worry because I see others becoming successful, or ungodly people becoming great, while I am unsure of what I want to do or how to get there. But God shuts down the thoughts of the enemy:

“Don’t worry about getting behind or seeing others become successful while you sit in My land. Don’t  you ever see My presence as a place to worry or a place that isn’t as good as where you “could be”.

You may need to read that again. I had to. It isn’t harsh, it’s just how desperate God is in wanting us to experience full rest.

He continues: “When you think of life that is outside of Me or what I have for you in this moment, you will worry. The more you dwell on the outside, the more anxious and less at peace your soul will become, which can end up resulting an action that hurts you or makes you feel guilt. I don’t want you to hurt; I want you to thrive; I want the best for you.

“It all starts with your mind, but I am going to teach you how to rest with you whole soul (mind, will, emotions), and you will be taught how to rest by renewing your mind, thinking only of Me (Rom 12:2). When you are at home in Me, the evil and worries will be cut off from your mind and you will not just dwell in My land and think the way I think, but you will own the land in which you rest. You will look for the evil, the fear, and the things that would make you worry, but you will not be able to find them for they have disappeared.

“You will have become so in tune with My heart and mind that your soul and heart will have become like mine, the capacity to only think and do what is good, lovely, pure, honorable, true, admirable, and praiseworthy (Phil 4:8).”

He wants to take you further in, but I can’t take you there. Run with Him at top speed; risk it all. Do not think about tomorrow, your Father wants to show you His treasures right now, for this moment.

Do you believe that He will give you anything that you desire? Ask Him.

Take off your shoes and rest.
